The poor deputy ed of the Scotsman is under increasing pressure to do something about Mr R's awful story as witnesses present at that meeting rubbish his 'facts'. It is astonishing that a 'professional' free lance with obviously good contacts in the press (and inaccurate ones in the Merse!) should stake his reputation on a story so easily shown up as a tissue of porkies*. A bloggee has sent me Mr R's Edinburgh address but I don't think I will be needing it myself but as a courtesy I will pass it on to the Press Complaints Commission.
Nearer to home I believe that a body in one of our villages may soon receive some very good news but the appropriate lips are sealed until an official announcement can be made. Watch this space as they say.
Also just down the road-Kirk Lane- Election Fever has nearly hit Hutton. Three of the 7 or so candidates-Tory, SNP and one other have put up posters outside the village hall which is to be our local polling station. But of the candidates in the flesh nary a sighting as far as Huttonian knows. The Indefatigable Mrs O has been seen in Allanton but I suppose with all Berwickshire, Roxburghshire and Selkirk to cover little hamlets like Hutton and even developing vilages such as Paxton are not too high on the list of must hit targets.
