The neo-fishes have relented and Huttonian has enjoyed two excursions on the golf course
It could have been three but the Royal County Down(PBUI) authorities suddenly decided to close the courses on Monday afternoon despite clearing skies, balmy and drying breezes and springy but unsaturated fairways. Despite a wet night the course was wide open on Tuesday morning and by running from my car breaking the local record for 100 metres carrying 12 clubs , I just managed to get away from the first tee before the ladies Tuesday competition broke out like a rash all over the No 2 Course-divots flying, balls spraying and not a gorse bush left unviolated. To day Mr Deakin had promised continuous rain all over Norn Iron with gale force winds so of course it was a lovely morning and not a distaff in sight. One kindly elderly gent who was ahead of me very courteously let me through as he had lost a ball in a particularity prickly looking bit of local rain bush. When I returned near him half an hour later he was still searching with the air of a man who had nearly given up hope but would nevertheless soldier on in the hope of a minor miracle.
Losing a golf ball in Norn Iron is not some thing to be taken lightly.
