Speculation is not feverish in Hutton, as far as Huttonian can tell, about the outcome of the election for the new leader of the Conservative party. The Tories have not much of a following in Scotland generally although our local councillor is one having beaten the Scot Nats at the last local election and their support in these parts is even less. In the Old Manse compound there is much more interest over what Farmer C plans to plant in the old Glebe field, once the Minister's source of income but now part of the larger Broadmeadows farming complex which is a happy combination of commercial farming, holiday cottages and the motoring industry. Above is the farming bit in action-ploughing seems to be a bit late which narrows the options for suitable crops unless the sowing is going to be left to the Spring. We have been lucky in that in our eight years here we have been spared close proximity to Rape with its very billious colouring.
We will keep you posted on how the field gets on. Hopefully no chemical spraying when the wind is from the north
