A BBC watching bloggee has spotted this item on its website from 'the middle of Europe' which apparently is not Coldstream but somewhere on the continnong. Its an old struggle. After nearly ten years politely complaining Huttonian is still in the Northumberland phone book as TD15 is mostly England. If you scream 'fire' down the phone you are as likely to get the Berwick Fire Brigade as the Duns (Scottish) one-and that is a result of yelling out your full address as the flames lick your unmentionables. NHS24 on our emergency number when given your post code will lose interest and suggest you die in England. If it is not a geographical reference how does the Postie find our house. What is it then? The sign of the Beast? We have asked to have Berwickshire given the code TD16-covering the non English parts of TD15. Is that too difficult and whom would it endanger? Answers on a post card to TD15-mark it Berwickshire, Scotland. I won't get it probably but it is the thought that counts

Border battle for postcode change

Residents have said the postcode affects more than their mail Residents in a number of Borders villages have begun a campaign to have their English postcode changed to a Scottish one.
Of the 39 towns and villages covered by the Northumberland postcode TD15, nine are in Scotland and local people said the situation creates huge problems.
They said it has caused difficulties with emergency services.
The Royal Mail insisted postcodes are used to sort post efficiently, not as a geographical reference.
The TD15 postcode covers several Berwickshire villages, including Foulden and Paxton north of the border.
Residents said they are being labelled by some companies as English.
They claimed that causes problems when the postcode is used for other services.
'Quality service'
However, Iain Smith from the Royal Mail, said it could not consider a change of code.
"In the TD postcode at the moment customers are enjoying a record level of quality of service in terms of the postal systems," he said.
"Actually to begin changing the postcodes there would endanger that.
"That is something the Royal Mail cannot risk doing."
Villagers have maintained the cross-border situation is making life very confusing, with even insurance quotes affected.
They have vowed to continue their campaign to have the postcode changed.

Comments:
My dear huttonian, why don't the good people of Hutton and the not so good people of Paxton undertake a unilateral disengagement plan from TD15 zone of occupation.

Stage 1. Would consist of the populous informing all their friends and relatives that their post code has changed. The evil-Anglican TD15 being replacing with a more Presbyterian TD16.

Stage 2. Would consist of total postal chaos.

Stage 3. In the chaos a new dictatorial post-mistress would arise. Eventually consolidating her power base around the newly fortified post office within the Hutton hall citadel.

Stage 4. The post-mistress would declare TD16land's independence. Which would be quickly ratified by the UN. Sadly Kofi Annan's letter of recognition would be lost in the post.

Stage 5. Insulted by the lack of international recognition, the post-mistress would refuse to stamp the Giros of those professing a belief in the heretical TD15.

Stage 6. Due to the financial hardship the TD15ers would flee TD16land. Crossing the perilous Tweed by boat, they would eventually come ashore at Horncliffe, where they'd be housing in a refugee camp, next to the honey farm.

Stage 7. Inflamed by the constant bee stings and assisted with the covert backing from the Royal Mail, the refugees would stage an invasion at Linn Dean.

Stage 8. The invasion would be repulsed by the newly formed TD16land army. Founded, trained and lead by the masterful Lieutenant Colonel "Mad Manser" Huttonian.

Stage 9. The populous of TD16land would rejoice at the defeat of their enemies. However, some would suspect that the victory was due more to the fact that the TD15er had succumbed to the nettles, as they strode ashore in their Royal Mail issue navy blue shorts, than the leadership of the 'Mad Manser'.

OK. It's starting to get a little silly so I'll stop the nonsense here!

Thanks. The Hutton Think Tank is on the job

No The Hutton Think Tank is not up to this. WE need the good people of Hutton to rally around Col. Mad Manser and form an alliance with the Hall Committee. No one could defy such a powerful alliance To the Barricades Mes Amis.

If it's any consolation - it won't be but hey.... - the residents of Cornhill have exactly the opposite problem they're TD12 4xx like Coldstream, but clearly in England.

People of Cornhill join us in the struggle for Post Code justice ad lower insurance premiums. Gpd and Mammon can both prevail
