Chirnside Bowlers

The Merse may not produce a great clutch of world class sports people (Jim Clarke the Formula 1 Racing driver being a notable exception) but as far as bowls is concerned the locals are supreme. Hutton in the carpet bowls-indoor-version and here you see the Chirnside Ladies who have just carried off the Scottish National Cmampionship. One of the quartet is even more local than Chirnside which is nearly a whopping 5 miles away and stays (as they say here) in Hutton. Next year the UK championships? You bet (and you might get decent odds if you do)
