One Lord A Leaping

The Lord Paxton in waiting story is increasing its column inches in the national press-Scottish and English See (thanks to usual bloggee) the following links:

It is now moved well away from son's flats, grandfather's wills, commuting distance from Paxton to a major issue: whether the honours system is being corruptly applied as an inducement for one MSP to stand down and another, an ex-minister- to stand for the vacated seat in what has been a safe New Labour constituency. Presumably the Met will be obliged to investigate an official (SNP) allegation and thus, widening their current cash for peers exercise. So far we only have it from the member for East Lothian that Mr Blair has offered him a seat in the Lords, allegedly in recognition of the good job done in bringing the Scottish Parliament building to fruition. So far silence from No 10 and no further comment from the Lord-in Waiting.

Could someone kindly suggest something else to blog about? WE are used to the usual country stinks here-slurry and all that. Other smells, city and parliamentary variety getting up our nostrils we can do without.

Thankyou very much

Comments:
I hope you will not cut short comments on this issue. It may seem to be a remote matter concerning Scottish and Westminster political noise and smell, but it is very much a local issue.

This man who claims to have been offered a peerage has not only presided over the national disgrace of the parliament building, has broken the spirit if not the letter of the MSP allowance code but has also tried to bully his way to getting planning approval for even more development in Paxton. He has stood up at a public meeting and told us that “I have a stranglehold over the village”.

We now understand he is trying again to push for development of the 11 acre Knowes Close field. From all the publicity and our own experience, we know what low and unscrupulous methods he uses in pursuing self-interest, so I hope our Community Council is prepared. Perhaps even our landowner-friendly Local Councillor will finally take note!

We will have to live with Mr Home Improvement, when he is unemployed with time on his hands and nothing better to do. If that is not an issue worthy of blog-space, I don’t know what is!

No Sir (or Madam) - comments and reports re the Paxton Peers will continue to adorn the blog. With a 5 day absence in Paris, France Huttonian looks to local bloggees to keep the good news rolling in as I doubt if Figaro will have much to say about this little local difficulty. France of course is a world leader in dealing with 'Aristos' who get above their station. Will the Tumbrils come trundling through the village Je me demande.

Anonymous – well said! The issue must not be cut short, quite the contrary. It must be publically exposed for the hypocrisy it really is. The contempt being exhibited here is extraordinary.
