Bikers: Get on them

Our Motoring Correspondent writes:

In recent days there is a new temporary road sign, just one of them, which has appeared along the B6461 a few yards east or the turn-off for Horndean and Ladykirk. It is a yellow rectangle which bears the black picture of a motorcyclist leaning sideways. Can anyone explain its provenance or significance?

Mischievously yours,

Rhoda (1 D only) Hogg

Huttonian has seen another one-on the Duns/Chirnside road about a mile out of Duns heading away from the capital. It must be something to do with the up coming Jim Clark Rally (which I will happily escape in Norn Iron). But the JCR is for mptorists (using the term loosely)Are Motor Cyclists been warned to keep out of the way?

Or what? Someone will know?

They're popping up all over the Borders on popular "biking" routes - to alert the general populace to lunatic bikers and also to alert the lunatic bikers that HM Constabulary know these are routes popular with lunatic bikers and are patrolling them more...

More than what exactly I don't know because I've yet to see the Rozzers out anywhere apart from on a cross-border pie-purchase run in Cornhill

What about a sign depicting a Rozzer?

Presumbably the Rozzers are so rarely seen that people don't know what they look like any more.

Milliband will deem motor "sports" as socially unacceptable as opposing wind farms in areas of natural beauty.
Saw a scuffer in the Co-Op in Duns this morning.
Wonder why they don't publish maps of the route for that wretched rally. I hate the days before when silly mini cars are racing around trying out the route. A also hate the unpoliced dash by spectators, doubling as wannabe rally drivers, between stages. Wonder what the carbon footprint is?

They will be coming past us three times over the weekend. And a few days of reconnoitring with the rally police observing (well, they aren't supposed to go over 20 mph) the preceding days.
2 years ago we had a Sky camera crew filming my garden - at least that was why I watched it when it was shown on TV :)

I think a map or route guide will appear in the Berwickshire although one year it was after the event. You can get details on the Jim Claek Website. Hels : good publicity for your new extension: 'As seen on TV' Paper Boy-Genuine Fuzz with hairdrier radar traps have been seen-by me-on the Duns-Grenlaw Road waiting to pounce past the Berwickshire High School at the point that the 40mph limit reduces to 30. B.Ware

The year before last they made a hilarious job of "hiding" at in the Southfields gateway one summer's evening in full view of all comers. Why don't they ever do the B6437 ?
The B6461 is safe, though, with all the dooderers trundling along.

They're actually required not to hide so Ms Hogg tanking along at 34mph in a 30 zone can adjust her speed accordingly. However by the time you've seen them, if they're using the laser to measure you've already been measured (they have a certified range of 3km but are generally used under a mile because PCs have DTs or something)

Do they have cars on the B6437? Lots of tractors.

and occasionally a cyclist (I was on the B6437 on a bike today)
