Musings from the Merse
snowreturning tonight. We have family who are already Bordererd so the new bedroom with three outsidewalls holds no terror. WE already have a lot of snow so we hope the sunroom/porch roof will continue to take the strain

We could have done our RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch by counting and classifying the foot prints as seen 8 am this morning after a snowy night. This is our door mat.
The birds are lucky to have the wife around-to defrost their water, put out the seed, top up the nuts dust the snow off the fat ball and anything else which postpones the preparation of Huttonian's breakfast. Strictly for the birds is apt in her case
Left to my own devices I would adopt a different set of priorities.
If they can't drink their bloody water let them enjoy skating on it.
Is what I say

The weather forecast said ' Rain becoming drizzle later' so of course it snowed. Very hard. And it froze. Cutting Hutton off from the rest of the known world -mainly because being the New Year Scottish Borders Council lacked the 'Resources' to grit the roads. Resources preferring the comfort of their own homes, a dram or two, and New Year Telly to gainful employment. These images were taken 10-15 minutes after the blizzard started. And today it is as if yesterday had enjoyed balmy zephyrs and blazing sunshine.
I wonder if that is it for the year?
