Farewell Sherif of DunsAccording to today's Berwickshire News Duns' Court is in danger of disapearing as a money saving measure plus the courts in Peebles and Selkirk as well. Contemplate life without Sherif Kevin Drummond whose doings used to be a feature of the Berwickshire which no longer publishes court reports to the detriment of enjoying life more fully. No doubt the same drunken drivers, the same hapless Eastern Europeans whom nobody told they must have British Driving licences, the same 'Domestics' take place and sentences are still handed down by the Sherif of Duns but no cub reporter to reveal all. Now the court will be empty and yet another dusty court room will join its neighbours in Peebles and Selkirk and the legal service will be centralised further.
It might never happen. But I fear the worst
Lack of business is given as a possible reason. So Robin Hood, Portuguese drivers, aggressive and drunken yobs, boy racers please return to Duns; it is only your collective efforts can keep Sherif Kevin on his bench
